Q: What motivated you to become a physical therapist?
A: From the time I took my first biology and anatomy course back in high school, I was fascinated with science and the human body. Initially I didn’t attend college and studied to be an X-ray technician. I was fortunate to work in a sports medicine and physical therapy clinic taking X-rays. I loved being able to help those in need during an illness or injury, but as an X-ray tech I was limited in my contact with patients. They simply came in for their test and then I never saw them again. I wanted to have a greater impact. As I worked along physical therapists and sports medicine physicians my interest and passion grew, and soon I found myself volunteering in various fields of physical therapy. It did not take long before I was hooked and knew I had found my way to a fulfilling career.
Q: You founded Back 2 Normal Physical Therapy in 1998. What was the build-up of opening your own facility?
A: Being an entrepreneur has always been in my blood. When I was 12 years old I started my own cleaning and window washing company, and from there I took every opportunity to develop, create and run small businesses. I
loved the challenge and the freedom to create and deliver a product or service.
